Performance before the screening: HEATHERS’ BLOOD FEAST: A TALK GONE HORRIBLY WRONG

The heat in the Spanish one-horse town is stifling. The overweight butcher’s daughter Sara endures the summer more than she enjoys it. She is shy, has no friends, and keeps to herself mostly, not least because her peers keep mocking her and her body. On her way home after yet another, particularly gruesome incident at the swimming pool, Sara witnesses something that will change her life forever. Carlota Pereda’s Piggy mutates from a bullying drama to a revenge fantasy to a blood-soaked struggle for survival. A stand-out among horror debuts.

Carlota Pereda
started her career as a writer, director, and script supervisor for Spanish TV series. A graduate of ECAM in Madrid, her first short, The Blondes (2016), was screened at festivals worldwide. Piggy premiered at Sundance in 2022. It is the feature-length adaptation of the short of the same title (2018), which received more than 90 awards, including the Goya for best short film.
