It might be the most popular convergence of queer and horror culture, rendered in exemplary ultracamp aesthetics and thoroughly pervaded by Tim Curry’s masterful portrayal of Frank-N-Furter, the “sweet transvestite from Transsexual Transylvania,” who lures a meat-and-potatoes couple stranded in his castle in the sky into committing various acts of sweet transgression. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the apotheosis of the midnight movie and musical feat, and at once a eulogy to all “Creatures of the Night” with a subsequent call to throw off the shackles of middle-class morality. Or, in the immortal words of Dr Furter: “Don’t dream it, be it.”

Pre-show with drag superstar Peaches Christ. Everyone will receive a bag with all the essential props to participate in the ultimate interactive Rocky Horror Picture Show experience!

Jim Sharman
is one of Australia’s most respected theater directors. Born in 1945, he graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney. Beginning in experimental theater, he went on to direct three rock musicals: Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, and the 1973 original production of The Rocky Horror Show. Sharman cowrote and directed its cult film version as well as its loose sequel, Shock Treatment (1981). He also helmed The Night, the Prowler (1978), based on a screenplay by Nobel laureate Patrick White. Sharman continued as a director for theater and opera and was the creator of Lighthouse, a theater company specializing in radical stagings whose ensemble included major Australian artists like Geoffrey Rush. He resides in London.
